Types of Amethyst
Amethyst comes in a variety of purple hues. It is available in raw format, points, generators, beads, spheres, specimens, tumbled, or jewellery. Amethyst Geodes show exposed crystalline structures including the druzy form. Countries of origin for this crystal include but are not limited to Argentina, Brazil, and Canada The heat of the earth's crust is what produces the intensity of the purple hue of the amethyst.
Chevron Amethyst is unusual because it is a mixture of different quartz colours occurring in a triangular or V-shaped chevron. Usually, the chevron is snow-white quartz appearing within a multi-coloured amethyst. It promotes peace and contentment while aiding with the reduction of anger, fear, sadness, and stress. It also encourages spiritual awareness, wellness, and love.
Elestial Amethyst promotes spirituality and establishes a strong connection with celestial beings and spirits. It can help to solve old karmic problems that have not been dealt with.
Black Amethyst is violet in colour, matte black, and contains other minerals with additional metaphysical properties. Great for meditation because it stimulates the higher chakras. This crystal is both solid and has a strong grounding vibration and is psychologically protective. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon, but can usually be purchased from good crystal suppliers via special order if they do not have it in stock already.
Red Tipped Amethyst contains a coating of Hematite, which provides the added benefits of allowing you to stay grounded. The crystal has a coating that is a mixture of violet and dark brown quartz (smoky quartz oscillations). This energetic fusion of amethyst and smoke quartz contributes to the total energy.

Stand or sit comfortably with feet firmly rooted on the floor.
Image tree roots extending from your tailbone into the floor. Image a golden cord running into the heavens.
Take a deep breath from your abdomen, and exhale fully. Repeat this twice. Then take the crystal in your non-dominant hand.
Clearly state the intention for your crystal for what you need the Amethyst to perform. You can now work with or wear the crystal as you normally would.
Selecting Your Crystal
If you are able to physically go to the store to select your crystal, using one of the following techniques may be helpful for you.
Grounding
When you are ready, sit or stand comfortably with your feet planted firmly on the floor or ground. Picture roots going firmly into the floor or ground while a golden cord extends into the heavens from the head. Take a deep breath from your abdomen and fully exhale. Repeat your breaths twice more.
Pendulum Technique
Clear your pendulum.
Ensure you are grounded. Picture tree roots extending from the base of your spine. Take a deep breath, exhale. Repeat the process twice more.
Hold the pendulum in your non-dominant hand, with your dominant hand underneath.
Ask your pendulum to show you "Yes". Note the direction the pendulum moved.
Ask the pendulum to stop.
Now ask the pendulum to show you "No". Note the direction the pendulum moved.
Ask the pendulum to stop.
Place a piece of Amethyst in your dominant hand under the pendulum.
Ask the Pendulum "Is this piece in my best or highest good?" or "Is this piece meant for me?" or a similar Yes/No question that will allow you to know whether or not the piece is meant for you to purchase.
Note the response.
If the response is no, try with the process again with another piece.
Note: If the piece is too big for you to hold you will need to place it on a firm surface and hold the pendulum over top of the crystal while asking the question.
Intuitive Selection
Hold the crystal in your non-dominant hand against your heart.
Ask your guides if this is in your best and highest good.
If you experience a positive feeling then the piece is a good match.
If you experience cold sensory feelings or a feeling of dread, select a different piece and repeat the process.
